The design of Re-Avenues is to create a Brooklyn residency program that connects the ecology of the past with the present while celebrating Lenape people and history. My individual focus was to adapt a former naval training building into the Growing Hub that would serve as the center of motion and gathering for the residency program. The main intervention of this design was adding a strategically placed greenhouse at the building’s core to bring in optimal sunlight. This section of the Growing Hub reveals the flow of plant life, water, and people coming together around the food they had nurtured throughout their residency.
