paper rise
I created two costumes for a two-minute, single showing performance using paper bags. I softened stiff grocery bags by rolling and twisting the material. Then I created a simple short and vest pattern. By adding zippered and careful seams, the recycled material was elevated to a surprising wearable object. The performance had minimal sound, which made the crinkling of the costumes become a major acoustical element.
